Remembering Linda Barton

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Linda Barton, Founder and Chair of the League of Women Voters of Fremont County and Chair of the League of Women Voters of Wyoming. Linda passed away recently following a car accident.

Linda built the foundation of our local League with determination, compassion, and a profound belief in civic participation and community service. Her leadership helped create a trusted organization dedicated to empowering voters and encouraging people across Wyoming to take part in public life.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lander Community and Convention Center, 950 Buena Vista Drive.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also remain committed to continuing the work Linda cared about so deeply. Planning for the 2026 election season is underway, and voter education efforts will continue in Fremont County and across the Equality State.

Many people have already asked how they can help honor Linda’s legacy. If you would like to support this work by volunteering, helping with forums, joining the League, or becoming more involved in civic engagement efforts in Wyoming, we would be grateful to hear from you.

We will share a fuller tribute to Linda and her extraordinary impact in the coming days. For now, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of working alongside her. Please use this form to share memories with Linda’s family.
